Well it works but is somehow flaky.
I think opacity needs a lot of CPU ressources.
And as always the :hover doesn't get the blue background.

I notice that when I use this, when the image resizes, it also adjusts the page to accommodate the new size. Normally that would be a cool feature, but since it is only a mouse-over change, isn't that unnecessary? It makes looking through GReader's feeds a hassle at times, since I read an insane amount of comics.
Again though, apart from that, this is a great sheet and is very useful! Thanks mate.

Simple - to let user know it's there and it exists, but isn't enabled until they do something is related to it.. If the button is completely out of scope of the current focus, it is hidden. That's coming from the Vista UX Guidelines.

Ben, This would be 5 stars if you could make it so that optionally it expanded not when hovered over, but when the BORDER was CLICKED on instead (like the old POTO Sidebar Extension). That way it wouldn't accidentally be getting opened all the time.
PS guys, there's a style around here (Firefox - Sidebar without size restrictions) that removes minimal width restrictions on the sidebar, basically allowing you to collapse it all the way to the left border so that it takes up less space when you don't need it, sounds like it would work well in combination with this style... but I haven't got them to work together at all... Ben please fix this problem also! Fixing this problem would involve a hover or click activating upon the BORDER of the sidebar, as that's all that shows when you collapse the sidebar all the way closed... but this style doesn't work at all (even on the interior) with the other style as of yet.

NOTE: (mop) Simply attach a comma at the end of the non-ending "+ menuitem" so that it looks like "+ menuitem," ok? Else you will get the non-intended loss of function.
Ben, a cool idea would be to have a "scroll-bar" arrow thing at the bottom to both show that there ARE more results, as well as allowing to navigate to them... then one can always make a real scroll-bar to replace the default arrow at the bottom. I like the concept though.
One further piece of advice... this is a cruddy way to increase the amount of RSS feeds visible (by incrementing the code with "+ menuitem," for each extra feed). I do like the functionality though

I agree with kuroi-ryu's description... Before restart there are lots of artifacts around the corners. After a restart, these go away, but some slight (but mostly unrelated) problems still remain. If this would work better, the author's other styles would be even more useful and pretty. Please fix as soon as possible Ben, thanks.

I'm not really into round stuff so much, but this does what it says mostly... it doesn't work on folders (like bookmark folders) in a menu list, just discrete items... that's kinda helpful in a way though, to know when you're on a folder or not. The author might want to work on that though.

While hovering History, Bookmarks and Help it works fine (even my symbols overlap the boxes), but while the rest there are rest corners. So you can see the round corner how it should be with this style plus how it is normal, but in a little different color.
Works fine after restart! ;-)

Great idea, but I found that this would cause my status bar to become really tall when checking feeds in Brief and also made my tabs really tall as they were loading. I had the idea that it was resizing the progress bar on tabs and in Brief. Removing ".progress-bar" from the code stopped the problem. It seems that the code alters other progress bars even if it's supposed to be limited to editing the AwesomeBar.

I too am having the same problem, the text is white but the background remains white as well. Its too bad because this is one of the coolest styles I have seen in a while. If it worked I would rate it a 5 but I have to give it a 0 for now.

Very nice, but for me it doesn't work with the following icons: quicknote, tagsifter, cut/copy/paste, piclens, download-helper, stylish, just to mention a few. Also it doesn't work for the sidebar close button. And it would be nice if it could also change the download-statusbar tooltips that are orange by default. Just my suggestions for improving it :)

The original size image may - and often does - stretch the screen (like USBman mentioned). I also use autoflow scrollbars, this style makes it impossible to get to those scrolls as images shrink on mouseout, of course. Sorry, useless to me for now, going back to http://userstyles.org/styles/2824.

Great animated image!
I'd suggest encoding the image in base64, instead of linking directly to it; a direct link with put a large number of requests for that file on that server. Instead, use an encoder ( I use: http://www.motobit.com/util/base64-decoder-encoder.asp ) to generate a base64 code for it, which requires no server at all.
So, instead:

url("http://people.mozilla.com/~dolske/apng/spinfox.png") !important;
it would instead look like this:

this is one of my favorite websites. Your AppStyles are the greatest thing I've stumbled upon since downloading the new Firefox 3. I've downloaded a number of your AppStyles that work fine, but this one's giving me a little trouble..
I'm using Aero Silver Fox Basic as my Firefox theme. This AppStyle does what it's supposed to, except that my urlbar drops down too far and gets squashed at the bottom making it unsightly. Compressing the Awesome Bar (Location Bar) is a great idea, but I can't use it until I can figure out how the urlbar can become centered as shown in your before and after depiction above.

I have a problem using this with ff3, I'd like to change the background to black and the colour to a light shade of grey, however using this code it only works on alternate lines, how can I apply the style (or different colours) to the odd lines? I've no idea how to see the code in firefox.

Fantastic stuff but i have just one issue:
I use stumble upon and whenever i mouse over its toolbar my bookmarks appear and subsequently the stumbleUpon toolbar drops down. it makes it really annoying if i want to hit the stumble bar because when i go to click it i have to move my mouse again after my bookmarks appear.
Is there anything i can add to your code that will allow me to hover over the stumble toolbar without activating the bookmarks toolbar? is there maybe a way to put a slight delay on the bookmarks toolbar showing ? - i just need one extra second to hit the button i want in the stumbleupon toolbar

@MozNation: What's so "advanced" from Ben's code?
The "go-button" has a "#" prefixed to it, so there is no need for the sibling selector (i.e. #urlbar[pageproxystate="valid"] > #urlbar-icons > #go-button )
I have used LouCypher's style successfully in Fx3 Release (although I didn't get my style from him, actually).

Great script that does perfectly what it says for default settings. However I can't get it working for customs settings as I wanted more than 6 items to be displayed. If I add more lines in the script (each containing an extram "+ menuitem" relative to the previous line) it doesn't show the corresponding values of items. Instead it cuts it to 5 (and not even 6 anymore). Am I doing something wrong?

Doesn't work if you try to select something in the context menu of a bookmark in inside a folder. The context menu simply vanishes before you can point to the menu item.
Take http://userstyles.org/styles/6599 instead. This works as expected.

I made variation that tries to fix "bug" mentioned by USBman. Try it and if you'll find it usable, update your code and I'll make mine obsolete.

I do want to point out that this disrupts the normal display of (unscaled) images that are larger than the size of the current Firefox window. This is unavoidable, as far as I can tell - if anyone can figure out a way to make this style only operate on images that are unscaled by Firefox, it would be much stronger! ...other than that, it is a nice simple script.

Tab content jumping... it's BAD.
Also I know better way to keep space -- just move bookmarks to the left of main menu. Now drop or move some useless bookmarks to feet new width. Also possible to use iconization and autohiding of main menu, but it's bad too.
