  This can be seen in the status bar as waiting for page to load . Therefore it don't cut the load time.

  Pretty snazzy, but how to remove the dead space at the right, as others have mentioned? I attempted to remove the "right-margin" lines as suggested by DMcCunney, but that did not provide a solution to the problem. Anything else I can try?

  Works great, I love it. One problem when using with Stylish though is that it breaks Google docs spreadsheets. I was able to use the GreaseMonkey script and exclude those pages and it works great again.

  (just a couple of tiny nitpicks - it should be ::before instead of :before, and it has been suggested a long time ago that you use @-moz-document domain(mail.google.com) , but it works just as well)

  Hi, would you pls shrink the searchbox input area containing only 2 spaces, until user enters criteria which expands the searchbox automatically? This could save precious spaces from the toolbar, and so it beats down the Searchbar Autosizer extension. :)

  DMcCunney: it shrinks only a bit without remaining about only 2 spaces width. Also when the searched texts is very long, those texts will override the buttons right beside the searchbox. Though I'd changed the max-width value, it doesn't help. I'll reverse to Searchbar Autosizer. Thx anyway.

  kidwizz: try editing the CSS code to *remove* the references to right-margin. I tried Searchbox Smart Expander, and got an annoying blank area to the right of the search button. Removing the right-margin lines in the code entirely eliminated that, and things seem to work as desired. (Frank, why is the right-margin code there?)

  rio: Try editing the code to change "min-width" in the #search-container #searchbar { section to a smaller value. Experiment till you get a width you like.

  I tried to survive on the family computer without this.

  It's become *that* necessary for me.
  I've tried a few colors, and usually end up with the default blue, though orange also works. Sadly, greys won't work so well, with so many darker themed websites. ;(

  Except for fine tuning of Greasemonkey Manage Window, now that new version of Greasemonkey is out (0.6.7.20070131.0) which fixes the jerkiness of the Manage Window, this style has become obsolete - in my humble opinion... :)

  Excellent! Now, to apply it to the buttons on all of the toolbars (as well as menu items) along with a narrow, black border around each button.
  UPDATE: interesting anomaly - for drop-downs from Live Bookmarks or other Bookmarks that are selected, the text changes from black to white even for lighter RGBs (which rather greatly reduces their readability), with quite a bit of "flashing" and other visual annoyances; any suggestions for a fix?

  In Gmail, when viewing an email with an attachment, access to the attachment is removed. Normally, you see something like "abc.mp3 -- 1MB -- Download" but with this user style enabled, that text & download link are missing...

  This is the best thing ever.

  It gets a 4 because trunk supports RGBA, so you can use rgba(16,186,224,0.5) instead and it's even better.

  Your style assumes we have the rip2.gif in the exact same path as you. It will not work. Try encoding that rip2.gif into a base64 code and it should work then.

  It's got some good points to it, but the bottom of the side panel and bleeds off the bottom of the screen and thus ends up unviewable unless you have a rather large vertical screen resolution (larger than any casual user would be using). It won't really be ready for widespread use until that is dealt with. The original version only didn't have that issue because it removed the bottom side panel and squeezed the remaining two together.

  Great work, but I did run into a bit of a conflict with LouCypher (aka Zoolcar9)'s wonderful "MozillaZine Forums Menu" (@ http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/1455), odd flashs and disappearing behind the main content block. Otherwise it's definitely a worthy improvement to the original, for those with large monitors. Goes to show how difficult it is to design a site for everybody.
