I like - and thanks for the credit (oh and 'wikitionary' is my fault - I wasn't paying attention when I added it to the domain list....)
EDIT: In respsonse to merwyck: "grey lady" does remove some messageboxes because I think that there's too many of them. They tend to get thrown around a lot in minor edit wars and are seldom relevant to the casual reader. More serious notices, such as breach of NPOV (neutral point of view) do display. If you want everything to display, it's simply a matter of deleting the lines: .cleanup, .protected, .linkless {display: none !important;}
Thanks JuanBR, but that seems to create a permanent hover area which takes up almost as much space as the actual status bar. @LouCypher: Apparently I haven't. How inexcusable of me.
The problem is that the tabs look like they're floating above the page... But thanks for helping to rid me of that awful-looking metal tube-like background.
An ad hoc solution to your h2 problem could be replacing "h2" with "tr > th > h2" (see http://blog.userstyles.org/?p=45 for details). As far as I can tell it'll only 'trigger' on the front page where you want it. As for the id="Today.27s_Featured_Article" - it doesn't seem to apply to the h2 element, so I wouldn't figure that could work...
I like moving the category bar to the right as it puts the current description in focus but other than that I can't see much of a difference (using adblock plus). And I deleted the before:body bit as I didn't see the point?
