Just make the active tab look somewhat like the new Firefox Button (makes it easier to pick out [when closing the tab, or whatever]) and move the tabs up (more room for the content)... OK, does a little more now--see Update below...
Adds a shadow effect to the active tab and makes inactive tabs transparent. Works with tabs on top or bottom.
Firefox4 Active Tab - Remove Bottom Border (For Default FF4 Theme, TabsOnTop: Off)
Using Firefox 3.6? Still have browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent set to the default [true]? Keep closing the last tab in the row after you finish with that new tab you just opened? :D Well, here's the style for you! Make the active tab so bright and shiny that you just can't miss it (auto-conditioned mouse finger notwithstanding) in that mess o' tabs you've got open. (The default actually makes some sense (?) if you've got lots and lots of tabs open, still... bleah.) Or maybe you just like some bright and shiny 3D tab kind of floatin' up there. Either way, here's some sample CSS you can use to make it "stand out in the crowd". The default setting in the code is the bright green (#0f0) with black text. Instead of matching the tabs-bottom color to the active tab you might match it to a most-used page (or maybe a Personas header image [if you use that]): http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/6804/gcalfxactivetab3db.png * * * * * * * * [ Fx: active tab 3D and shiny ]
active tab #FF8888 For Firefox2.0
Based on "Tab: Colored Active Tab" I've modified to match the Zune Theme that you can download from Microsoft. Works great with another one of my styles, "Hardly visible inactive tabs".
Inspired by Jason Barnabe's Single tab widener (http://userstyles.org/style/show/393) this makes the active tab wider - handy when you've got a load of tabs open.
Increase the minimum width of active tab and its neighbors. Useful only you have NOverflow installed, and min-width set to 36px. Get more useful tweaks from sdrocking
makes the active tab in all areas of the browser a little more noticable.
Bolds black the active tab in Firefox and makes dark blue the inactive tabs.
