Provide distinctive red coloring for visited links, Google is the worst offender and some of the Mozilla and MozillaZine sites do not provide adequate visual distinction between visited and unvisited links. To color visited links red for all web pages see Red:visited -- Mark visited links Red (*DM) (17357).
The avatar section of about.com wastes a lot of space while the addressee and thread / number info of the message is underneath the box, increasing the height of the message; this Stylish script uses relative re-placement of the elements to make it seem as if the original designers hadn't messed this up. ;) This is a quick solution with not much testing to it, so updates may follow. Version 0.1: initial release. Version 0.1.1: some bugfixes, now includes positioning of 'Edit' and 'Delete' buttons in user's own messages and moderator view.

As about.com is performing changes to their layout it is becoming a pain to keep all fixes in a single file. Instead, I am moving most of the changes into individual scripts which are easier to maintain. In about.com forums it is possible to use CSS to make anchored elements, usually pictures, break out visually from the message box and have them overlay other parts of the page or even all of it. This can be used for all kinds of mischievous purposes, using the images as links to other places. With this little script the CSS features allowing this get reset, so that the picture should stay confined to its message. It also restricts the size of the anchor to 500 x 500 pixels, so it doesn't break the page layout anymore. This does not remove any malicious links, so you still shouldn't click the image. The script can be toggled on and off to check whether something is wrong, and guides and moderators at least are advised to keep it switched off until necessary, or else they might not notice what is going on on their forums.
This will remove the menu's from the tutorials at cplus.about.com. It's much easier to read the tutorials this way. Disable to use the rest of the site.
Version 0.1 This small script removes the two large ads from the forum pages.
Version 0.2 This little script removes the My Chat, My Subscriptions and My Friends sections from the My Forums or Forums Settings page. If you don't use these forum functions (does anyone?) this script frees up a lot of space. Version 0.1: initial version. Version 0.2 changes: July 30th, 2008: about.com seem to have changed the structure of the Forums Settings page, adding in another div, which breaks version 0.1 and renders it useless. Version 0.2 reflects the change and removes the sections again. However, the old code remains in the file for the moment in case about.com are just testing and change it back eventually. The patterns used are mutually eclusive so the old code shouldn't be able to cause problems.
Version 0.1 This little script makes all those faint borders black, which might help with navigating the site.
