I use the Wired News Printer Friendly Redirect script http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/985 with this.
I couldn't get rid of the huge flash ads at the top of the pages. Unless someone shows me how you will just have to use AdBlock. The screenshot was taken with AdBlock enabled.
21 July 2006: Wired put some comments about nonstandard CSS at the top of the pages. This fix seems to clear them up for now.
31 July 2006: Added some tweaks for the main pages. Optimized for 1024 x 768.
