Yet again the default UI wastes precious vertical space needlessly. This style will correct the waste without overly shrinking any elements. The before screenshot is 55 pixels tall while the after screenshot is a scant 35 pixels. A 36% reduction without any loss of functionality.

4/1/2011: Added code to shrink the tab throbber and maintain its aspect ratio.
