The author has marked this style as obsoleted by Google Reader minimalistic bluish pastel.
Otherwise like the mischievously obsoleted Google reader optim - AnonCrow edit search&folder , except commented the code a bit
Remember to block the following images for maximum effect
www.google.com/reader/*tree-view*.gif
www.google.com/reader/*star_inactive.png
and possibly the following (not necessarily in Opera, try blocking only content-type: image/* with proxomitron )

http://feeds.*/~a/
http://feeds.*.com/~*
http://feed.*.com/~a/*
Use Google Reader hide little top footer to duplicate behaviour of Google reader hide small top
edit 20.12.2007:
Changed margins to make feed settings button usable on lower resolutions displays. Alternatively, just make your feed/tag titles shorter so the dropdown for search doesn't overlap the feed settings dropdown.
For #viewer-controls, changed margin-right from 5px to -8px
For #search, margin:-26px 0px 0px 30px ( 75px -> 30px)
For #search-restrict, margin:-1px 0px 0px 30px (50px -> 30px)
As result, some buttons overlap eachother a bit and the feed settings button if a bit off-screen.
edit 16.01.2008:
Incorporated some stuff from Google Reader - Post Tweaks and Google Reader - grey reading background and some tweaks; namely made the sidebar a tad wider ,changed its margins and hid .gbh
Added 'after' screenshot: top part shows fullscreen ('u') expanded view, top selected item, three items below it marked read and a two new items below it. Below that list view with sidebar visible.
