Updated with improved behavior for the new discussions "D2 Widget". That's the comments thread abbreviation/hiding sliders, and the ".oneline" comments it generates.

Before Screenshot: Shows the default widget mode, stupidly covering the left-navigation every time you try to go near it...
After Screenshot: Shows the same page position, fixed.

I used their existing JavaScript toggling of the widget classes (there are two class modes for the widget and its container, .rooted and null) to cause size and position toggling in CSS, which keeps the widget on screen, but out of the way at all times. It also stays closed (small) until mouse-hovered.

CmdrTaco said he might "steal" some of the "good ideas" in this CSS, but I didn't seen any indication of that, last time I turned it off. *shrug*
