The author has marked this style as obsoleted by Google Text & Image: slim header, wide results.

This styles both regular text and image searches from Google. The header is positioned fixed with the search box and the type-of-search indicator and links. Just below it is your user name (or a "Sign in" link) which displays account links on hover. The footer is also fixed and displays page links, which get an outline on hover. Lengths are mostly in ems and the layout is text-zoom-friendly.
With the exception of the results links' outline, no colors are specified. This style will probably work with a style that touches colors instead of layout, but that has not been tested by me.
In Firefox, the search box's caret (or text position cursor, as opposed to mouse cursor) sometimes disappears. This seems to be caused by a bug, resolved for Firefox 3, involving positioned inputs. If you know of any workaround that allows the same fixed-positioning layout, let me know.
Don't forget to modify the url-prefix rules for any international Google domains you use, but note that it's only been tested on (www|images).google.com.
