Dark gray/black color scheme for Google's web search page (classic version only). Dark blue version is available as well: Google Web Search - dark blue redesign (vC).
Note: This style only works for google.com. To make it work for other countries, use a plain text editor to search for "google.com" and replace all occurrences with "google.co.uk" or whatever you use.
If you'd like a gray logo as well, here's an addon style you can use: Google Web Search - gray logo replacement (vC)
More of my google styles:
- Google Web Search - dark blue redesign (vC)
- Google Web Search - gray logo replacement (vC)
- Google Image Search - dark gray redesign (vC)
- Google Video - dark gray redesign (vC)
Feel free to visit my userstyle site at http://www.valacar.com/userstyles/
For Opera users:
-Copy the code & open in a text editor
-Save the code as a .CSS file.
-Open Google in Opera.
-Right click and select "edit site prefs",there is a box on the "Display" tab that allows you to use your own css or js file.
-Select the CSS file you just saved.
~Enjoy~
It's good but can you make one thats orange and for all the pages like image search and Gmail and can you make it in the google.com.au because it's hard to change the image search on google.com to google.com.au
Thank you!
@bugmenot2:
Just download the "Customize Google" extension - it will remove all Google advertisements on many of Google's services.
Could this script be updated to hide the "Sponsored Links" at the top of results?
I want to customize the link ( web Images Maps Actualités videos Gamil plus) , I want to replace videos by Reader for example
Can someone help me ???
Can you give me an answer by mail passimal at gmail.comthanks a lot ....
Pretty & neat style :)
Does someone knows how to change input Search font & background?
Here's the html markup:
input type="text" title="Search" value="YOUR_SEARCH" maxlength="2048" size="41" name="q"/
input type="submit" value="Search" name="btnG"/Search button is easy to change, but how can we modify Submit area style?

The best style for google yet!
And the best thing is that it works with "google suggest" page aswell... I just had to change the "google.com" for "http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en" and it work perfecly...
Thanks a million !!!
The best style for google! but could you make a js version out of it for the opera users...?
I love this, i have a question to ask is it possible to have an image as a background instead of plain color?
and how its done.thank you
Love it, but can you please update so the Sponsored box is removed?
great work! i'd like to see it on the google advanced search page too.
a matching wikipedia style would be cool too to match all your excellent dark gray redesign styles
Really nice style, however the google sponsored links show up as a big white ugly box in the upper right corner. Any way to either remove these or make the box the same color as the background or transparent?
"awesome. exactly what i needed. i use the googlepedia addon for firefox, so google shows black, but the other half for wikipedia shows white. is there a way to make the wikipedia half black as well? thanks!"
I am curious about this too, I use DarkWikiPedia so is there anyway to combine these two?
Great, but I had to make some changes for it to work with the Beta Shortcuts. To the /* Replace small upper left logo images */ add this into the list of to-be-replaced:
table.tb imgThen of course disable the original logo by adding img[src*="experimental_sm.gif"][width="150"] on the disabled logos list.
To put a transparent background (instead of the original yellow one) on the experiment warning, write this: #exp_msgs td, .one, .two { background: none !important; }
I have made some corrections for google.sk and google.cz.

enjoy ;-) and THX to vC for original style.
Looks great, but it only works on site with the .com top-level domain.
Could there be a single version for all nationalities?
It's weird using normal Google now.
This is wonderful, could you, or suggest to me how to, make this work for igoogle was well, since I use that as a homepage, and rarely see google.com's front page?!
I love your dark gray styles. I'd LOVE it if you made one for myspace, since I hate the new interface these days. It's probably impossible to make one though, since it's always changing these days.
awesome. exactly what i needed. i use the googlepedia addon for firefox, so google shows black, but the other half for wikipedia shows white. is there a way to make the wikipedia half black as well? thanks!
I have the same problem another user had... the search suggestion part is all white and then the text appears only on mouse-over.
This is his picture:

I have created a modified version of this script to work with Google Australia as well (it saves all you Aussies having to modify it yourself!)

Great Scipt by Valacar by the way!
Great style. I've added this piece of code to a seperate style (too lazy to figure out all of this style's code) to fix the new menu, so it doesn't have a black background, but transparent instead:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@-moz-document domain("google.com") {
#gbar .gb1, #gbar .gb3 { background: transparent !important; }
}
Very nice. Just one comment, google is redirecting to local version when available i.e. .fr, .ch, .uk, is there a way to get your style generic enough to have only one and not as many as visited countries.

I like this style very much but I noticed a problem between this style and google suggest. The results can't be seen:

It's a good start, but needs a lot more work to integrate with more pages (eg. Gmail, Calendar, Preferences, Video, About Google, etc.).
Also, I found that if you go to /preferences?sa=F (the link from safesearch), because of the way the table is made (and safe search highlighted) it hides the SafeSearch option. Also it would be better if it made more of those cool Google logos (eg. Images, Groups, Video, etc.) for the others...
Overall, good for your normal search.
Brilliant, much cooler than normal Google.
Please make an iGoogle version...
Looks very nice, but how about a version to modify iGoogle for anyone who uses the custom google homepage?
Simply gorgeous, is perfect with the rest of my skins, and Youtube, now that you've fixed the skin :) What about a dark gray Gmail, or Google Reader sometime in the future?
Beautiful
love it
Well, thats great, but what about non US Google sites like google.com.au?
