The author has marked this style as obsolete.
DESPITE noting that this script only worked with "GMail 1," and even after I took the time to write one for GMail 2, I still get idiots posting 0 stars (who haven't written a single style). GMail now offers colored labels. I'm using those and so should you. I'm obsoleting this.

As of December 3rd, GMail now offers colored labels. I wrote a new version of this for GMail 2 on 10/29.
IDIOTS like "Aliji" who post "0 stars" DESPITE my advice posted 10/29 (below), but haven't written a single style, really piss me off.

Important Update:
As of October 29th 2007: Oh oh. There are, as of today, TWO Versions of GMail. To get these label names/bold, you will have to select "Older Version" in the top right corner. The "New" Version has changed element types. So unless you select "Older Version," this script may fall by the wayside.
I've just Updated this Script, now available here as of 10/29/07, 7:30PM PST:

Doesn't work with Gmail 2.
Excellent.. Maroon works well for the color.
This one is great. Love it.
Got an easy one to bold a field for new emails?
works well. anyway to associate different colored/styled lables for each individual label?
