Warns you if a link is to a pdf, exe, mailto, or anything not that isn't a web page. It does this by placing an icon after the link. See the picture for more details. You can personalize it to your own needs by adding or removing your own file types.

This style uses icons from Windows. Linux users, check out Link Warning Mod (Linux compatible). Mac users, do you guys even use Firefox? This system isn't foolproof because it merely checks the end of the url. Also, this style works in Gecko only.

Inspired by PDF-icon after links to PDFs, PDF file warning with custom hover cursor, PDF / mailto Icon, and target="_blank".

Supported types: .pdf, .doc, .xls, .ppt, .7z, .zip, .rar, .exe, .msi, .mov, .m3u, .pls, .asx, mp3, .avi., .wma, .wmv, .mpg, .wav, mailto:

Update 1: added .torrent, .nzb, aim:, irc:, _blank, _new, and iTunes Music Store
Update 2: added .asf, news:, nntp:
Update 3: added .xpi; cleaned up code
Update 4: added .docx, .xlsx, .pptx

hi "Stupid Head",

It is an oxymoron that you have chosen such a nick because I find your script "Link Warning" so much useful in demystifying the hidden links and it is now saving a lot of my time as I can know about the type of link beforehand.

Just that I have to get used to comprehend the icons.

some suggestions:

1. Consider giving some option of having a "text tag" instead of or alongwith the pic icon, or give the test telling about the link on mouseover or as a 1/2 sec tooltip. That would help understanding it more clearly, especially for the newbie users of your script.

2. Please, please, please, Please extend the script to identify "Javascript:" coded links also. The main problem I am facing is with those javascript link that open a new page but when I middleclick them (ff3) they rather open a new blank page that I have to then close and again leftclick on the link. It will help several like me if your script can also tell us beforehand that a link is "Javascript" coded.

3. Also include method to tell if the link has rel="nofollow" attribute. It is an attribute that tells search engines not to follow the link that has this attribute set, and it is being utilized by several people.

4. Another small thought. Link "Warning" sounds something formidable. Your script is just giving Link Info that might be utilized as a warning or not by different people.

Hoping to see an update soon that give one or more of the above requests. I wonder how I would get to know when you release an update for it.

Thanks.
